Hybrid International Workshop 28th -29th July 2023

Join us for a unique and immersive workshop that takes you on a journey through the tangible and intangible heritage of Egypt. This International workshop is organized as part of the work of the Heritage Living Lab Project in Luxor, we are excited to bring this innovative approach to the heart of Cairo, in collaboration between Ain shams University, Egypt and the University of Lincoln, UK.

Over two days, we will explore the narratives and perceptions of local communities towards their heritage and discuss strategies for preserving and documenting it for future generations.

The first day will take us on a guided tour through parts of the iconic Fatimid Cairo, where we will visit historic landmarks and engage with local experts & craftsmen to gain insights into the city’s layered history.

On the second day, we will convene at the ASU campus to delve deeper into the theoretical and practical aspects of heritage preservation, with keynote speakers who are leading experts in the field.

This workshop presents a rare opportunity to learn from and network with peers and professionals from around the world, who share a passion for heritage and cultural sustainability. We invite applications from students, scholars, practitioners, and enthusiasts who are eager to expand their knowledge and contribute to the ongoing dialogue on heritage preservation.

This project and hybrid international workshop are funded by the British Council, Going Global Partnerships and is led by Ain Shams University, Egypt, The University of Lincoln, UK.
