The Global Housing Strategy
On Wednesday 6-12-2017 at 5:30 pm, IUSD held a Public Lecture titled “The Global Housing: A Paradigm Shift Towards Adequate Housing For All” by Prof. Mohamed El Sioufi, the lecture was held at IUSD Video Conference Hall @ Faculty of Engineering – Ain Shams University.
Short Bio on IUSD’s Guest Lecturer:
Prof. Mohamed El Sioufi is an international urban development advisor with over 40 years of experience. For 20 years he served as a Senior Advisor at the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT). He provided policy, technical and capacity development advice in Africa, the Arab States, Asia the Pacific and the Caribbean regions.
He developed the “Participatory Slum Upgrading Programme” currently operating in 35 countries in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific regions. He coordinated the Housing and Slum Upgrading Branch and the Global Housing Strategy.
Prof. El Sioufi is currently, an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. From 2013 to 2015, he was a 150th Jubilee Professor at Chalmers University in Göteborg, Sweden. He is on the Advisory Board of the IUSD Programme. For the UN, he conducts policy and technical missions including developing and evaluating programmes.
